A Touching Picture!

That's what the picture caption said,

"A Palestinian holds his injured son in the hospital immediately after the explosion at the funeral procession in Gaza. With the explosion killed three people and wounded more than 30 people."

All Organic, All Around

Here is a picture of a Gaza Strip Cabbie filling in his car with cooking oil. This is way cool, I mean, I wish that people did not have to opt to extreme measures, but this is the case. Out of fuel because of Israel siege, Gaza has to be creative with their energy sources. When they are not using cooking oil to power your their cars, there is always the option on using an animal pulled cart to move around. Need is indeed the mother of inventions, I mean people are still struggling in this country over what to use and how to use better technologies. In Gaza with primitive technologies, people are making the switch. Only if oil is made unavailable, only then people will look for alternatives. Who said that good things cannot come from bad situations!

Divorce This

I am against divorce in practice, but for it in principle. In other words, people should have the option of divorce, it never should be taken from the table, but mediation should also be on the table. It is surprising that divorce advocates find happiness in divorce, but if this is true then their marriage from which they are trying to break free has to be madness.

Having said that, I think in the Western countries (mainly US, since Europeans rarely get married) the divorce rate is too high, back home, divorce rate is too low.

I think both parties should have the right to divorce each other. Because like the nuclear weapons, countries we have it, will not use it against anyone else who has it.

No one should have to endure humiliation, mistreatment, and infidelity from their partner. Hence, there is no need to feel locked in unhappy marriage. I think that some people chose comfort over pleasure and that's why people might stay in a bad marriage.

I have to admit that it is much harder for a divorced person to find a new partner, women have it harder back home because of the social context. For example, a divorced women or a widow in some Muslim communities cannot move freely without having a chaperon. A practice to shut people who might suspect a immoral behavior. I kind of do not like that, but it is a system that works and has been working for ages.

Truth is, there is no assurances or guarantees that a divorce won't happen. I used to think that I am immune, but I know that I change and I know that others change as well. That is why in Islam they call divorce "the permissible yet resented Act" which only to testify to the complexity of this practice.

My Gym And Yours

This is a picture of a gym, this gym is either for lazy people or people a gym for people with disabilities! If you cannot climb a stairs, you might not want to be at the gym.

I like the gym, and I love the time I spend there, even though the gym in our building is not coed, in other words, guys have their own gym and women have theirs as well. I rarely say any women in our building, so I am under the impression that our entire complex is inhabited by either overweight senior citizens, insanely intimidating Russian dudes, or plenty of hairy Persians who do nothing by sit in the Sauna when I am there. I have to say though, i see little return on my time at the gym, i do it because it became some sort of addiction or because I lack creative ideas of how to waste my time.

As the summer started, I noticed now that a lot more people are coming to the gym, maybe they are in pursuit of hot summer pool party bodies. I do not know what is their purpose, but they sure use the few equipments we have at the gym and, leave me room for me to do my exercise. Do not you like how I think I am entitled to use the gym before those guys?

One more rant, these guys always watch shows that I have no interest in, here is the breakdown:

Older men love their America's funnies Home Videos shows
Younger white dudes, like scrubs.
Darker folks including the Persians love Basketball
Mid age white guys like CNN Headlines news.
Random Russian dude likes Home Improvement shows.
The Koreans do not care
other random folks, Fox News (not a bad idea to make your blood boil like crazy, better workout)

If I cannot watch MSNBC, I usually enjoy my Arabic tuneage. I also have another gym at my work. the gym at work is a blessing had i not had a gym in my building. I love it, the only place where you can have peace is the one place people do not usually go, the gym.

Let The Madness Begain

Politics aside, Clinton was asked by ABC News' Chris Cuomo in an interview that aired on "Good Morning America" what she would do if she wins the White House and Iran attacked Israel with nuclear weapons, according to the ABC News Web site.

"I want the Iranians to know that if I'm the president, we will attack Iran," Clinton said. "In the next 10 years, during which they might foolishly consider launching an attack on Israel, we would be able to totally obliterate them."

This is strange coming from the former first lady, to use the verb "obliterate" If some non-US person said this about any other country, the States might ban this person from coming to America. Groups are suing the president of Iran for saying he wants to wipe Israel of the map, and they should sue stupid people. But as the head of the free world (maybe) I think this language should be beneath you!

One Lazy Prtiner!

Yesterday, at work, we had a problem with our copier. I called in for maintenance, they send one of their crew. He was a charming African American fella, that started working on it. I asked him if he needed anything, he should call on me, he said OK. He came to my office few minutes later, and told me to walk with him to the copier, I do so. He asks me "Do you know lazy printers?" "How do they work?" I was like, "Lazy printer?" Not really, I never heard of them. He was surprised and give me an impression that I am old school. I looked him in the eye and I said "sorry, I have been living under a rock for a while" He said it was fine, and started explaining to me all about Lazy printers. I know my boss was listening to our conversation, and she had a smile on her face the entire time, the gentleman was explaining to me about the printers. Then all of a sudden I said "Did you mean laser printers?" He said "Yes, Laser printers" I replied, "Gosh man, I know about those" needless to say, I felt like a dork.

At this point, my boss and other colleagues came in to laugh at me (or with me)They said "It's is Gaza Day for Hani" or "Lazy printers, where do you come up with this stuff?" I was like "dang it guys, if machines nowadays have "sleep mode" and "snooze button? Why cannot they be lazy?

They didn't buy it!
